SM Bulacan malls boost public schools’ readiness for SY 2025–2026

CITY OF MALOLOS — Days before students return to school on June 16, SM Supermalls has gone beyond retail to rally behind education.

In support of the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela 2025, mall employees, partners, and community volunteers joined forces to help refurbish and revitalize learning spaces in Bulacan under the theme “Sama-Sama Para Sa Bayang Bumabasa.”

EMPLOYEES of SM City Marilao roll up their sleeves for Brigada Eskwela, taking part in classroom clean-ups and facility repairs as part of a shared commitment to education and community upliftment.

Despite persistent rain, the teams pressed on with repainting classrooms, repairing school facilities, and providing essential school and cleaning supplies—bringing new energy to campuses that have long awaited improvement.

At Ibayo Elementary School in Marilao, volunteers from SM City Marilao repainted walls, cleared hallways, and donated school essentials, including cleaning materials and gardening tools to support ongoing beautification and greening projects.

Meanwhile, SM Center Pulilan and SM City Baliwag devoted their efforts to Tiaong Elementary School. SM Baliwag’s volunteers repaired jalousie windows, cemented balcony grills, fixed minor electrical issues, and brightened classroom interiors with fresh coats of paint. SM Pulilan’s team, on the other hand, complemented its repair works by planting over a hundred seedlings, enhancing both the function and form of the school grounds.

Beyond the tools and paintbrushes, SM’s commitment extended to delivering vital supplies—construction materials, electric fans, and disinfectants—all aimed at preparing schools for a safe and conducive learning environment.

The annual Brigada Eskwela participation was spearheaded by SM Supermalls’ Human Resources Department in partnership with SM Cares, the company’s corporate social responsibility arm. More than a volunteer activity, the initiative reflects SM’s continuing investment in public education and its belief that building a better learning environment is a shared community effort.
