Governor Fernando: Model businessmen made Bulacan more open to business

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Governor Daniel R. Fernando has declared that Bulacan is more open for business and an all-time investment-friendly province, as numerous model businessmen manage the industries here.

The governor reiterated this during his keynote address in the 2025 Most Outstanding Bulakenyo Businessmen (MOBB), initiated by the Bulacan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bulacan.

He also pointed out that the business community in the province not only elevates its enterprises, but also helps to uplift the lives of ordinary Bulakenyos through opportunities for jobs and livelihood.

BCCI, the country’s most outstanding chamber of commerce and industry, as cited by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) in the past multiple years, has initiated the annual MOBB to not just giving an award but to showcase Bulacan’s investment climate to the radar screen of local and foreign investors.

MOBB Awards were established in 1991 to recognize the innovation and excellence of Bulakenyo entrepreneurship and the businessmen behind its success.

Innovation and inclusiveness are among the top criteria for giving the

‘Most Promising Entrepreneurs’ award category. Bauertek Farmaceutical Technologies Corporation based in Guiguinto, Bulacan has received this award as a citation to the country’s premier manufacturer of food supplements.

This Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-supported food supplement manufacturing firm exceeds the country’s standards and raises the bar for research, manufacturing, and development.

The next awardee in this category is the HTP Clothing Corporation by Heidie Ricca Del Rosario for transforming a digital startup into a socially responsible fashion brand. Before online selling became a trend, she was already making waves with her brand HTP Clothing which stands ‘Half the Price’.

When the pandemic hit many entrepreneurs, she mobilized her customers online to raise P3 million to produce and donate personal protective equipment (PPEs) for the frontliners. Del Rosario built a business and brand that ultimately gives back, empowers and inspires.

Four Bulakenyo entrepreneurs and innovators received ‘Most Outstanding Businessmen’ award. Francis Bajet, chief operating officer of the Bajet-Castillo Group of Companies in Pulilan, continues a rich legacy of consumer trading since it was started by his grandfather after World War II. From being a bakery it has turned into a multi-industry today.

NBVinta Construction Corporation of Plaridel has traced its root from renting an old jeep to now running a trusted construction service provided established by Narciso Vinta.

Loyalty and trust of his Japanese clients and partners boosted the gains of his company from being a small material supplier has grown into a reliable general construction company that offers regular employment and health benefits for them.

Powerfill Group of Companies of Toni Paulo Valenton started this business as a small gasoline station Barangay Caniogan in Malolos in 2009 amid the strong opposition of the household near the site. With the grit, purpose and passion, that business had beaten the odds and now operates nationwide.

He has even expanded to Singapore for fuel trading with massive oil refineries in the provinces of Quezon and Cebu. As one po the fastest-growing oil players in the country today, the Malolos-grown brand thrives on the perseverance, strategy and clear mission to help empower public utility drivers and ordinary people with accessible and affordable fuel.
Finally, Ernesto Vergel De Dios helped a home-based baking hobby into a well-known and the children’s ‘favorite baon’, the Lemon Square Cupcake, started with cracked eggs and cakes baked by his wife Nina. Today, it has become a full-scale operation under Big E Corporation where over 3,000 people are employed.

Meanwhile, Paolo Madlangbayan, trade and industry development specialist of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) –Bulacan said, that BCCI’s MOBB has tremendously helped the government in boosting the implementation of the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Delivery of Government Services or the Republic Act 11032. It is also sending a message to the business community that there is a ‘red carpet’, not red tape, in opening and doing business in Bulacan along with its bustling and highly competitive labor force.
