Katutubong Dumagat students receive educational aid from PGB

CITY OF MALOLOS — The Provincial Government of Bulacan underscored its commitment to inclusive education as it extended financial assistance to Katutubong Dumagat during the celebration of Indigenous Peoples Month that was held recently at Barangay Camachin, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan.

A total of 90 students from the Katutubong Dumagat community received educational support and were granted P3,500 each for those enrolled in private senior high schools and colleges, students from public senior high schools and colleges received P3,000 each, and board reviewees were provided P5,000 to help them prepare for their licensure examinations.

Further extending the support for the community, the Magic 5 Brotherhood Association, Inc. shared their generosity by donating canned goods, noodles, and school supplies to 200 beneficiaries, bringing smiles and much-needed support to the Dumagat families who took part in the celebration.

With the theme “Weaving Culture, Enriching Future: Empowering Indigenous Communities as the Bedrock of Sustainable Development”, the program honored the significant contributions of Bulacan’s Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in environmental protection, cultural preservation, and heritage promotion.

In his message, Governor Daniel R. Fernando highlighted the significance of the celebration and the province’s commitment to uplifting the lives of IPs.
“Mga kapatid naming Dumagat, kayo ay mahalagang bahagi ng ating kasaysayan at pagkakakilanlan bilang mga Bulakenyo. Kayo ang tagapangalaga ng ating kalikasan at mga tradisyon. Tungkulin po naming tiyakin na kayo ay may patas na pagkakataon sa kaunlaran,” the governor said.

The celebration of Indigenous Peoples Month was organized by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial History, Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office, in collaboration with the Katutubong Dumagat ng Bulacan and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), was held in observance of Indigenous Peoples Month.
