Campaign against illegal firecrackers intensified in Bulacan ahead of Yuletide Season

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The campaign against illegal firecrackers has been intensified by the Bulacan Police through a series of successful police operations, demonstrating the province’s proactive stance on public safety even before the start of the Yuletide Season.

On Monday afternoon (Nov. 10), authorities discovered and confiscated several materials used in the manufacture of illegal firecrackers along a vacant lot near a creek in Barangay Lapnit, San Ildefonso, Bulacan.

Based on the report on Tuesday, at around 5:20 p.m., personnel of San Ildefonso Municipal Police Station responded to an anonymous tip regarding an alleged illegal firecracker production in the area. Upon verification, police operatives found and confiscated various chemicals and paraphernalia.

Three paint buckets and one sack containing potassium perchlorate; Seven plastic bags with firecracker fuses; Several containers of colored firecracker powder (green, white, and pink); Nine sacks containing additional firecracker powder; 66 unfinished “Kwitis” and 68 “Whistle Bombs”; and, tools such as a hammer, cutter, weighing scale, and tape dispensers.

Meanwhile, Bulacan Police previously launched two separate operations in October 2025 against illegal firecracker manufacturers in Sta. Maria and Angat, Bulacan.

In Sta. Maria, three suspects were arrested, and three boxes of unfinished “Kwitis” worth ?8,000, along with a drill used for manufacturing, were seized. In Angat, another unlicensed firecracker facility was discovered and shut down, with additional unpermitted firecrackers confiscated.

PRO3 Director PBGEN Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. commended the Bulacan police for their continued vigilance, stressing that these operations reflect PRO3’s commitment to preventing firecracker-related injuries and ensuring community safety during the holiday season.

“These operations reflect our proactive approach in safeguarding the public from the dangers posed by illegal firecrackers. Under the leadership of Acting Chief, PNP, PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., PRO3 continues to uphold the PNP Focused Agenda on Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) and our Strategic Direction to Protect the People,Pursue Peace and Order and Promote Professionalism,” PBGEN Peñones Jr also stated.

Peñones Jr reaffirmed that PRO3 will continue to intensify law enforcement and public awareness efforts to ensure a safe, peaceful, and injury-free celebration across Central Luzon this Christmas season. (UnliNews Online)
