13K strong police force to secure 40th EDSA anniversary

THE Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of P/Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., has mobilized 13,448 personnel nationwide as part of comprehensive security preparations for the “Trillion Peso March” rally on February 25, 2026, in line with the 40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

As of 5 p.m., February 21, 2026, all units of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) are under Full Alert Status, ensuring heightened readiness and seamless coordination before, during, and after the event.

The Quezon City Local Government Unit approved the conduct of the rally along White Plains Avenue, Quezon City, organized by Tindig Pilipinas, SIKLAB, and the Trillion Peso March Movement. Organizers are set to install their stage at midnight of February 24, with program activities scheduled from 7 a.m to 10 p.m on February 25, 2026. No other rally permits have been granted for that date and location.

To secure the activity, the PNP has implemented a multi-layered deployment strategy. A total of 3,657 Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) personnel have been deployed on the ground, supported by 3,613 augmentation forces and 1,197 standby CDM contingents ready for immediate reinforcement if necessary.

Anti-criminality efforts are reinforced by 862 dedicated teams, while 386 law enforcement checkpoints and 322 border control points have been established to deter the entry of prohibited items and prevent criminal elements from taking advantage of the gathering.

For rapid response and public safety, the PNP has positioned 501 Quick Reaction Teams, including SWAT and EOD/K9 units, alongside 337 traffic and route security teams to manage vehicular flow and ensure safe access routes. Covert security personnel numbering 381 are also strategically deployed to monitor potential threats discreetly.

Complementing these are 332 mobile patrol units, 186 beat patrol officers, and 246 strong points placed in key areas to maintain visibility and deter unlawful activities. Public safety is further supported by 142 medical teams on standby, as well as drone operators, negotiating teams, arresting officers, legal support units, and administrative personnel to ensure smooth operational control.

PNP Chief, Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., underscored that the extensive deployment is preventive in nature and anchored on professionalism.

He assured the public that police presence will remain disciplined and non-partisan.
“Our police officers are under clear instructions: maximum tolerance, strict discipline, and full respect for human rights. Hindi ito pagpapakita ng puwersa—ito ay pagpapakita ng kahandaan.”

Chief PNP, Gen. Nartatez also reminded participants to observe safety protocols and cooperate with authorities.

The security preparations are aligned with the PNP’s Focused Agenda through Enhanced Managing Police Operations, ensuring centralized command, efficient resource management, and real-time coordination at the national level.

As the nation commemorates this historic milestone, the PNP reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard democratic expression while maintaining public order—advancing Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, in service of every Filipino.
