SM Bulacan malls and BFP strengthen safety through fire, earthquake drill

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — In celebration of Fire Prevention Month, SM Bulacan malls, in collaboration with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), took part in the fire and earthquake drill on Tuesday (March 3). This event was part of a month-long campaign aimed at raising public awareness and promoting essential protection measures during catastrophes.

The activity occurred at SM City Marilao, SM City Baliwag, and SM Center Pulilan. Tenants, agency personnel, and mall employees participated in various instructional and practical activities focused on improving disaster preparedness. Evacuation drills equipped participants with crucial information and skills for handling fire- and earthquake-related emergencies.

A series of quick emergency response activities were likewise conducted that included carrying out first aid procedures for projected situations such as severely injured victims and setting up an emergency command center and communication system. Additionally, live fire extinguisher demonstrations and fire safety training were led by BFP specialists.

The successful execution of the drills highlighted SM Supermalls and the BFP’s strong collaboration, demonstrating a shared commitment towards safety, awareness, and emergency preparedness.

The public-private partnership (PPP) of SM and BFP gives priority to the constant training of SM’s personnel to respond to disasters, including earthquakes and destructive fires. This will help ensure the safety of SM’s stakeholders, including customers, tenants, employees, nearby communities, and the general public. (UnliNews Online)
