1 of the 4 suspects in Calumpit robbery-holdup, arrested within 24 hours

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — One of the suspects involved in a robbery- holdup in La Residencia, a prime subdivision in Brgy. Balite, Calumpit was arrested within 24 hours after the crime was reported.

Initial reports revealed that on Saturday night (March 21), around 7:20 p.m., four unidentified suspects forcibly entered a residence in a said subdivision and declared a holdup.

The said bigtime robbery was reported to Calumpit Municipal Police Station headed by P/Lt. Col. Leocel Estorque, Calumpit police chief, who immediately launched a hot pursuit operation in coordination with other police personnel under the supervision of Bulacan Provincial Director P/Col. Angel A. Garcillano, with guidance from PRO3 leadership.

According to Lt. Col. Estorque, through extensive CCTV backtracking and forward tracking, investigators were able to identify the getaway vehicle used in the crime.

He added, subsequent coordination with the Land Transportation Office enabled authorities to trace the vehicle, which led to the identification and arrest of one of the suspects on Monday (March 23).

The suspect was positively identified by the victim and witnesses as one of the four individuals who carried out the robbery and is now under police custody for proper disposition.

A criminal complaint for Robbery in Band under Article 296 of the Revised Penal Code is being prepared for filing before the City Prosecutor’s Office in Malolos, Bulacan, while follow-up operations are ongoing for the arrest of the remaining suspects.

Regional Director P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez commended the operating units for their prompt and coordinated response.

“This accomplishment highlights our intensified efforts in crime response and investigation. Within 24 hours, we were able to arrest one of the suspects, demonstrating our commitment to fast and effective police service. We will continue our operations until all those involved are brought to justice,” Mendez said. (UnliNews Online)
