THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) rewarded a total of P7,466,707.69 in cash incentives to 31 civilian informants on Monday (March 23) under Operation: Private Eye (OPE), an intelligence-driven initiative that transforms ordinary citizens into vital partners in protecting communities from the threat of illegal drugs.
At the PDEA National Office in Quezon City, six informants, whose identities remain strictly confidential for security reasons, received their monetary rewards during a simple yet meaningful ceremony honoring their courage and patriotism. The remaining recipients were recognized and awarded at PDEA Regional Offices across the country.
The ceremony was attended by Secretary Oscar F Valenzuela, Chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. He is joined by PDEA key officials and personnel, and members of the OPE Reward Committee.
“These individuals exemplify the power of citizen action,” said PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani R Nerez. “Their information led to 33 high-impact anti-drug operations that dismantled criminal networks, resulted in the seizure of significant quantities of illegal drugs, and apprehension of high-value drug personalities.”
Among the awardees, the top informant received P1,834,640.81 whose information led to the seizure of 24.983 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu and the arrest of three drug personalities during a buy-bust operation along Maharlika Highway, Sitio Purok II, Barangay Masin Norte, Candelaria, Quezon on October 10, 2025.
All reward releases underwent a rigorous evaluation by the OPE Reward Committee, composed of PDEA key officials and representatives from the business, academic, and religious sectors, ensuring transparency, integrity, and accountability.
PDEA continues to encourage the public to report illegal drug activities through the secure Operation: Private Eye hotline at 0917-867-7332. (UnliNews Online)
