Gang leader linked to Calumpit P10-million robbery-holdup, arrested

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A 29-year-old gang leader involved in the P10 million robbery-holdup in Calumpit and facing multiple criminal charges was arrested in a coordinated manhunt operation by joint police units on Tuesday (March 24).

The suspect was apprehended at around 12:50 p.m. in Sitio Sapang Putol, Brgy. San Juan, Taytay, Rizal through the joint efforts of the Provincial Intelligence Unit-Bulacan PPO Tracker Team, Bulacan 1st PMFC, Calumpit MPS, Regional Intelligence Division 3, RSOG 3, RIU 3, Taytay MPS, and PIU Rizal PPO.

P/Col. Angel Garcillano, Provincial Director of Bulacan PPO said the arrest was effected by virtue of multiple Warrants of Arrest issued by Regional Trial Courts in Rizal for violations of RA 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Law), Robbery with Force Upon Things, and Theft under RA 10951, with a combined recommended bail of P430,000.

Police records identified the suspect as the alleged leader of the “Rasonabe Criminal Gang,” linked to a series of robbery incidents in Bocaue, Calumpit, Bustos, and Balagtas, Bulacan, as well as in parts of Rizal Province. He is also being eyed as one of the suspects in the recent robbery-holdup incident in Calumpit, Bulacan, which remains under investigation.

Confiscated from the suspect’s possession were 14 assorted gold and silver jewelry items belonging to the victim, one Glock 17 9mm pistol with 14 live ammunition and one magazine, 4 iPhone cellular phones, one Samsung S7 tablet, 4 fake identification cards, and cash amounting to P187,000.

Further investigation disclosed that the arrested suspect has an existing warrant of arrest and is also under the watchlist of Provincial Intelligence Unit- Rizal.

The suspect is currently under the custody of Calumpit MPS for proper disposition. Charges for robbery and violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) are being prepared for filing before the appropriate prosecutor’s office.

PRO3 Director PBGEN Jess B. Mendez, in a media interview, commended the operating units and cited the success of sustained coordination and intelligence-driven operations. (UnliNews Online)
