Game On: SM City Marilao puts sports at the heart of summer

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — As the Philippine heat index breaches a scorching 40 degrees Celsius and students bask in the freedom of summer break, SM City Marilao is offering more than just air-conditioned relief — it’s serving up sports, wellness, and community spirit in one game-changing campaign.

Redefining what it means to go to the mall during the hottest months of the year, SM City Marilao has launched its Active Hub and Summer Games, positioning the mall as Bulacan’s newest sports destination.

TABLE tennis session at SM City Marilao welcomed 36 young paddles, eager to learn the ropes from the seasoned pros.

The initiative drew an impressive crowd from the get-go, with hundreds of players signing up to train and play in its newly designated sports zones.

“As temperature rises, so does our commitment to community wellness,” said SM City Marilao Mall Manager Engr. Emmanuel Gatmaitan. “We are not just offering shoppers a place to cool down – we are creating an accessible venue for sports and physical activity, regardless of age or skill level,” Engr. Gatmaitan added.

The campaign kicked off with a dynamic volleyball camp, attracting 104 local athletes, followed by a table tennis session that welcomed 36 young paddlers, eager to learn the ropes from the seasoned pros.

Over the next two months, SM City Marilao will roll out sports activities like basketball and volleyball training, badminton exhibition matches, and more opportunities for Bulakeños to get active.

More action is also coming up in the region, with SM City Baliwag and SM Center Pulilan joining the movement through pickleball, basketball clinics, and even motocross events, giving locals more reasons to stay fit, have fun, and stay protected from the summer heat.

This initiative is part of SM Supermalls’ nationwide campaign to make health and wellness accessible and enjoyable for everyone, turning the malls into safe, inclusive spaces where sport is a shared experience. (UnliNews Online)
