PHACTO issues public advisory for travelers and pilgrims

For a safe and enjoyable Summer 2026 in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS — As the summer season approaches and the observance of Holy Week draws thousands of pilgrims and travelers to the province, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office of Bulacan (PHACTO) issued a public advisory reminding visitors to practice safety, responsibility, and respect while exploring the province’s historical, cultural, and pilgrimage destinations.

With the expected influx of pilgrims and travelers, visitors are advised to remain mindful of the intense summer heat by staying hydrated and bringing reusable water bottles during their travels. Wearing light and comfortable clothing, applying sunscreen, and using protective items such as hats and sunglasses are also recommended to avoid heat-related illnesses. Travelers are likewise reminded to limit prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., when temperatures are at their highest.

PHACTO also urged tourists and pilgrims to observe local guidelines and safety protocols in heritage sites, churches, shrines, and natural attractions across the province. Guests are encouraged to respect local traditions and maintain proper decorum, especially in sacred spaces and cultural landmarks. Maintaining cleanliness and proper waste disposal in all tourism areas is also strongly encouraged to help preserve Bulacan’s historical and environmental treasures.

For pilgrims visiting Bulacan during Holy Week, PHACTO recommended preparing adequately for pilgrimage activities by wearing comfortable footwear and bringing essential items such as a basic first-aid kit, power bank, and rain protection. Meanwhile, visitors touring museums, historical landmarks, and heritage districts are encouraged to take time to appreciate the province’s rich cultural legacy while supporting local tourism initiatives.

PHACTO OIC- Department Head Limuel Jan J. Lobederio invites the travelers to experience Bulacan’s well-known culinary specialties, locally made crafts, and handmade souvenirs by supporting local businesses and artisans.

“We are also encouraging the public to patronize tourism establishments and services accredited by the Department of Tourism to ensure safe and reliable travel experiences,” he added.

PHACTO also reminded motorists and travelers to prioritize road safety by planning their trips ahead and checking traffic advisories, particularly in high-traffic areas expected to experience congestion during peak travel periods. Drivers are urged to ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy and to strictly follow traffic regulations, while commuters using public transportation are advised to use authorized services and remain mindful of their personal belongings.

In case of emergencies, the public may contact the Bulacan Rescue Hotline at 911 or reach the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Bulacan through 0905-333-3319 or 0942-367-1455, or seek assistance from the nearest police station or barangay office. (UnliNews Online)
