25 nabbed, 27 firearms seized in 2 weeks in Central Luzon

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — In a determined bid to uphold peace and ensure the integrity of the upcoming May 12, 2025 national and local elections, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has intensified its crackdown on illegal firearms as part of the nationwide Commission on Elections (COMELEC) gun ban.

From March 28 to April 10, PRO3 conducted 24 focused police operations that led to the arrest of 25 individuals—23 civilians and 2 members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

A total of 27 assorted firearms were seized during the operations, significantly disrupting the circulation of unlicensed weapons that could have been used to commit violence or intimidate voters.

These results reflect PRO3’s unwavering commitment to a peaceful, orderly, and credible electoral process. The seized firearms are now in police custody, neutralizing potential threats to public safety and electoral integrity.

PRO3 Regional Director, Brig. Gen. Jean S. Fajardo, underscored the significance of these operations, saying:“Enforcing the COMELEC gun ban is not just about compliance—it is about saving lives and protecting democracy. Every weapon we confiscate is one less tool of violence on the streets. We are determined to hold those who defy the law accountable and to dismantle any attempt to undermine the peace during this crucial election season. Our efforts will not waver.”

PRO3 also calls on the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or known violators of the gun ban. Community cooperation is vital in the collective pursuit of a safe and secure election.

As the 2025 elections draw closer, PRO3 reaffirms its relentless dedication to safeguarding every citizen’s right to vote—free from fear, coercion, and violence. (UnliNews Online)
