Peaceful and orderly ‘Semana Santa 2025’ in Central Luzon

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Holy Week observance across Central Luzon in 2025 was marked by peace, solemnity, and strong community cooperation, according to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), led by Regional Director Brig. Gen. Jean S. Fajardo.

Thousands of faithful flocked to churches, pilgrimage sites, and religious processions, with local authorities reporting a generally peaceful and orderly Semana Santa. The success of the week-long religious activities was attributed to the coordinated efforts of the public, local government units, religious organizations, and volunteer force multipliers.

“Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the public for their discipline and to our partners for their unwavering support. Their collective effort ensured the safe and solemn commemoration of Holy Week in the region,” Fajardo said.

However, PRO3 also reported nine drowning incidents in Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales involving 12 individuals, seven of whom sadly lost their lives.

Additionally, three vehicular accidents were recorded in Nueva Ecija, Zambales, and Bataan, resulting in injuries. All incidents are under investigation by the concerned units.

Fajardo extended her deepest condolences to the families of the victims and once again urged the public to exercise vigilance during holiday travels and recreational activities.

“As we commend the peaceful observance of Semana Santa, we must also remind everyone that safety must never take a back seat—whether in prayer, on the road, or by the water,” she emphasized.

With the conclusion of the Lenten season and the expected return of travelers this Easter Sunday, PRO3 calls on motorists and commuters to plan their journeys carefully, conduct necessary vehicle checks, and strictly follow traffic regulations to avoid accidents and delays.

PRO3 remains fully committed to safeguarding the public, especially with the anticipated increase in tourist activity during the summer months. (UnliNews Online)
