DOLE told employers to assure better, fairer and humane workplace

CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Pampanga — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Region III has reaffirmed its partnership with the employers in the private sector to achieve Zero Accidents in workplaces.

DOLE Regional Director Geraldine M. Panlilio calls for a better, fairer and humane workplace as she led the ceremonial signing of the pledge on a United for Zero Accidents: A Call to Action. This is in observance of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2025 ahead of the national celebration of Labor Day on May 1.

The Zero Accidents goal according to the regional director, shall not only be targeted in the future but particularly in contemporary times. She also pointed-out that employers shall always be proactive by identifying the potential risk before it actually happens.

DOLE remains confident that strong alliances across all sectors and open collaboration between workers, employers, related government agencies, as well as those advocating for occupational safety.

In Central Luzon, among the sectors being monitored thoroughly by DOLE were construction, manufacturing especially those using heavy machinery, pyrotechnics and transportation.

DOLE and employers are pledging to recognize workplaces and individuals who champion Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) that will set the highest safety standards and adapt evolving safety policies in the more complex challenges of the present time.

Furthermore, Regional Director Panlilio said that DOLE is set to release a new department order that will help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to adapt and comply with the occupational safety standards.

On other aspects of workers’ welfare, DOLE continues to conduct regular inspection in various workplaces to ensure that their employers are complying to the particular obligations such as its part in paying the right contribution to the Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), PAGIBIG Mutual Fund and other related agencies.
