NUEVA ECIJA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) has completed a 0.52-kilometer farm-to-market road (FMR) in Barangay H. Romero, a remote agricultural village in Zaragoza.
OIC-District Engineer Jun Vana stated that the newly concreted, four-meter-wide road replaces a previously unpaved route that became muddy and nearly impassable during the rainy season, and dusty and hazardous in dry months.
Now benefiting around 200 daily users, the improved road has significantly eased the transport of agricultural products, particularly rice—the area’s primary crop.
The project is expected to boost local trade, support farmers’ livelihoods, and improve the overall quality of life in the community.
Funded under the 2025 national budget through the agency’s Convergence and Special Support Program (CSSP), the road was constructed at a cost P4.85 million. (UnliNews Online)
