First female chief of Aurora police turns over post

BALER, Aurora — The first female chief of the Aurora Police Provincial Office (APPO) relinquished her post on Saturday (June 28).

Col. Lucile Faycho handed the reins to Col. Robert Petate in a ceremony at Camp Ravina here.

In her speech, Faycho expressed appreciation to the Philippine National Police leadership, local government units and stakeholders, noting that assuming command is not merely a change in designation but “a sacred trust” that calls for integrity, empathy and unwavering public service.

She said the guiding principles that shaped her leadership were makatao (pro-people), makabayan (patriotic), and makadiyos (godly), along with swift and responsive public service, unity and morale within the ranks, and accountability and modernization.

“To my fellow Aurorans, thank you for your trust and support,” she said. “The Aurora PPO will always be your partner in peace, progress, and justice.”

Petate recognized the legacy of his predecessor and pledged to build upon the gains achieved under her term.

“Our mission is clear: To serve and protect, to uphold the law, and to foster a safe environment for all citizens,” he said, while vowing continued partnership with local governments, community organizations and citizens.

He laid out a vision anchored in responsive, modern, and inclusive policing, stressing the importance of adapting to emerging threats such as cybercrime and digital misinformation while deepening community engagement.

Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones Jr., Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office-Central Luzon, commended Faycho and affirmed full confidence on Petate’s capacity.

He also announced the distribution of 200 Police Operational Checklists to chiefs of police across the region, aiming to standardize operational responses and elevate regional law enforcement readiness.
