BULACAN — Over 1,135 trees were planted in collaboration with Holcim, DENR, and local partners for the National Greening Program.
Berde Renewables and Berde Rooftop proudly reinforced their commitment to environmental sustainability by participating in two major tree planting initiatives—one in Bulacan on June 25, and another in La Union on July 12.
These efforts are in partnership with Holcim Philippines Inc., Helix Mining and Development Corporation (HMDC), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), and local community stakeholders.
The Bulacan activity, which was in celebration of Arbor Day, took place in Brgy. San Mateo, Norzagaray, where approximately 1,000 fruit-bearing trees were planted across one hectare of land. The event also featured “KapaligiRUN,” a community-centered activity designed to raise environmental awareness and community engagement. Meanwhile, the second initiative in La Union added 135 Narra trees, bringing the total to 1,135 trees.
These initiatives, aligned with DENR’s National Greening Program and the Board of Investments’ (BOI) Tree Planting directive, highlight Berde’s dedication to broader ecological restoration and environmental protection.
Trees play a vital role in protecting the environment, especially during the rainy season. They help absorb excess rainwater, prevent soil erosion, and reduce the risk of floods and landslides. Beyond their environmental benefits, trees also support long-term reforestation efforts and help create healthier, more resilient ecosystems for future generations.
“Our commitment to excellent customer-service and partnership with our clients goes further than providing renewable energy solutions. We make sure that Berde contributes to their sustainability goals and we remain compliant to our government partners who are all a big part of our major purpose in this industry,” said Limuel Zamora, Permit and Compliance Manager at Berde Renewables. “Through efforts like this tree planting initiative, we want to help restore ecosystems while building a greener future for Filipinos. Environmental responsibility is at the heart of how we do business.”
We are grateful to all our partners, especially the volunteers and key personnel from Berde Renewables, who worked with us to make the tree planting activities at both our La Union and Bulacan sites a success,” said Ms. Kim Oblades, Environment Officer at Holcim Philippines.
Everyone’s intention and willingness breathed life into this partnership. We are not merely restoring forests; we are sowing seeds of hope, resilience, and a sustainable future for generations to come. This collaboration clearly demonstrates what can be achieved when like-minded organizations unite with shared purpose and commitment to protect our planet.
Berde Renewables and Holcim Philippines continue to support each other in delivering impactful solutions across their respective industries, guided by a shared vision of a nurturing and sustainable future. Together, they lead meaningful growth by example through responsible business practices and environmental stewardship. (Manny D. Balbin)
