PRO3 marks 100 days under Peñones with major gains in crime fight

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 has marked its first 100 days under the leadership of Regional Director Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. with significant accomplishments in crime reduction, law enforcement, and public safety, in line with directives of acting Chief PNP Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.

From June 19 to September 27, PRO3 recorded a total of 4,426 index crime cases, a decrease of 48 compared to 4,474 cases during the same period last year. Focus crimes likewise went down by 100 cases, from 1,021 to 921 this year. These reductions, though modest in number, reflect PRO3’s strengthened efforts in curbing criminality and safeguarding communities.

During the same period, PRO3 arrested 1,596 wanted persons, 370 of whom were classified as Most Wanted. Remarkably, within just one week this September, PRO3 successfully captured the Top 10 Regional Most Wanted Persons, delivering a strong message that justice will always catch up with those who attempt to evade it.
In its intensified campaign against loose firearms, PRO3 confiscated a total of 635 assorted illegal firearms and arrested 330 violators, significantly diminishing potential threats to community safety.

The regional office likewise ensured peace and order during the 53rd Martial Law Anniversary demonstrations on September 21. Although some personnel deployed in Mendiola, Manila were injured in the course of their duty, no casualty was recorded among both demonstrators and the police, a testament to the unit’s adherence to maximum tolerance and respect for human rights.

Anti-illegal drug operations also yielded remarkable results, with a staggering P906,564,241.60 worth of drugs seized in just the first 100 days. This included 132,058 grams of shabu valued at P898,000,118.80, 34,326.48 grams of marijuana worth P2,769,688.00, and other illegal substances such as cocaine, ecstasy, and kush valued at P3,089,872.00. These operations not only disrupted the illegal drug trade but also underscored PRO3’s commitment to protecting the youth and future generations from the dangers of narcotics.

“Our first 100 days stand as proof of what unity, discipline, and dedication can achieve,” Peñones Jr. said.

He added, “Guided by the orders of the acting Chief, PNP, Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., we reaffirm our commitment to protect the people, pursue peace and order, and promote professionalism within the ranks. This is only the beginning—our fight against crime and our mission to serve with excellence will continue stronger than ever.” (UnliNews Online)
