CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) destroyed illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices confiscated across Central Luzon as part of intensified measures to ensure public safety during the holiday season.
The ceremonial destruction was conducted on Monday (Dec. 29) in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), which facilitated the proper disposal of the prohibited items.
Among those destroyed were various types of illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics, including boga (improvised cannons), kwitis, goodbye Philippines, lolo thunder, plapla, tuna, judas belt, and giant whistle bombs worth more than P500,000.00. These items were confiscated during sustained police operations and inspections conducted by PRO3 units throughout the region.
P/Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr., Regional Director of PRO3, said the activity reflects the Region’s firm adherence to the PNP Focused Agenda of Acting Chief PNP, P/Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr, particularly on Enhanced Managing Police Operations.
“The removal and destruction of these prohibited firecrackers are preventive measures to protect lives, prevent injuries, and avoid unnecessary incidents. This initiative is fully aligned with our 3Ps—Protect the People, Pursue Peace and Order, and Promote Professionalism. We continue to urge the public to welcome the New Year safely and responsibly, in cooperation with law enforcement and other government agencies,” Peñones Jr said. (UnlinNews Online)
