STA. MARIA, Bulacan — A Chinese national and two Filipino employees were arrested recently by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) after allegedly being caught selling uncertified and non-conforming automotive and e-bike batteries worth approximately P1.5 million at a warehouse in Barangay Pulong Buhangin in the said town.
According to the CIDG, the Chinese national, who allegedly owns the warehouse, and her two Filipino employees were found in possession and control of imported batteries from China that allegedly failed to meet Philippine consumer safety standards, posing potential risks to users.
CIDG Director P/Major Gen. Robert AA Morico II stressed that Republic Act No. 7394, or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, requires businesses to ensure that products sold to the public are safe, reliable and compliant with government standards.
The CIDG said the operation underscores its continuing campaign to protect consumers and prevent the sale of products that may pose safety hazards. (UnliNews Online)
