73-bed capacity hospital to rise in Morong

BALANGA CITY — A 73-bed capacity hospital will soon rise in Morong, Bataan.

It will be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways Bataan Sub (3rd) District Engineering Office.

OIC-District Engineer Maribel Navarro said the proposed three-story Morong District Hospital, located in barangay Sabang, is intended to become a primary healthcare facility catering to the medical care needs of the people of the municipality and surrounding areas.

It will offer quality health services and a range of facilities including general medicine, common laboratory tests, operating and delivery services, and other support services.

“The initial phase of the project includes site preparation and construction of the first floor covering an area of 1,500 square meters,” Navarro added.

It received an initial funding of P50 million in the 2023 national budget.

Officials present during the groundbreaking ceremony include Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva, Bataan 3rd district representative Maria Angela Garcia, and Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III.

Villanueva committed to push for the funding of the second and final phases of the project amounting to P100 million for the FY 2024 Annual Infrastructure Program and P150 million to complete the supporting facilities of the hospital by 2025.

The legislator added that prioritizing healthcare projects for the people of the town, given its limited accessibility to medical facilities due to its geographical position between Bagac and Subic, is one of his advocacies.
