SM makes schools in Camanava area ready for SY 2023-2024

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Employees and volunteers from SM Malls in Grand Central, Sangandaan, and Valenzuela trooped to public schools in the Camanava area to work together for the Brigada Eskwela 2023.

Various activities ranging from carpentry work, paint jobs, repairs, replacements, and greening the school surroundings were assigned to volunteers to ensure school grounds are clean, safe, and conducive for learning.

In Caloocan City, SM City Grand Central, and SM Center Sangandaan volunteers gave classrooms a brand new look by cleaning, repairing chairs and desks, and painting walls. The rundown rooms of Maria Clara National High School in Caloocan were masterly restored and given a makeover.

Beneficiaries also received cleaning materials and supplies for repairs and painting.

SM City Valenzuela, on the other hand, brought back vibrancy into the nearby Caruhatan West Elementary School.  The building and classrooms got a touch-up in the form of fresh wall paint, dust-free chairs and tables, repaired jalousie windows, and sanitized comfort rooms.

SM’s commitment to education and progress goes beyond this annual initiative. The company has also been engaged in various educational projects and partnerships, including scholarship programs, classroom donations, and infrastructure support for schools in need, as well as empowering students and new graduates by connecting them to meaningful job opportunities.

Recently, SM City Valenzuela organized the first overseas job fair in the NCR. The job fair generated over 3,000 job listings from at least 10 participating global companies and employers. The Overseas Mega Job Fair in SM City Valenzuela pulled in a thick and large crowd of jobseekers, including fresh graduates.

Brigada Eskwela is an annual volunteerism activity led by SM’s Human Resources Department in partnership with SM Cares and the mall’s Customer Relations Service Department.

Aligned with SM’s mission to be a catalyst for positive change, the initiative seeks to assist communities in creating a better learning environment for students. It also hopes to encourage SM employees to participate in civic activities. (UnliNews Online)
