Police arrested MWP, another fugitive in COMELEC checkpoint

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Central Luzon police successfully apprehended a Most Wanted Person (MWP) and another individual wanted by law enforcement authorities while conducting a joint PNP-COMELEC checkpoint operation in the province of Aurora on Thursday (Sept. 7).

In a report on Friday, in the municipality of Dingalan, Eleuterio Areola y Flores, a Top 5 Municipal Level Most Wanted Person, was intercepted by vigilant police officers during a PNP-COMELEC checkpoint for violating traffic regulations – specifically, for not wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle and for not possessing a valid driver’s license.

Subsequent record checks revealed that Areola had an outstanding warrant of arrest for the charge of Attempted Murder, with a recommended bail set at P120,000.00.

Meanwhile, Nazer Lozano y Cornelio, 36 years old, was apprehended by law enforcement personnel as he passed through the checkpoint. The suspect was positively identified as a wanted individual listed in their area for the crime of Estafa, with a recommended bail amounting to P18,000.00.

The PNP and COMELEC jointly established these checkpoints which commenced on August 28 in connection with the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) period. The primary objective of these checkpoints is to ensure the safety and security of the public and to apprehend individuals violating the Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines.

PRO3 Director Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. commended the outstanding performance of the police officers in carrying out their duties and highlighting the effectiveness of these law enforcement checkpoints to bolster the region’s anti-criminality campaign. (UnliNews Online)
