TO our fellow Bulakeños who are looking for peculiar sightseeing spots in Bulacan, go and visit the beautiful and majestic waterfalls of Doña Remedios Trinidad in the province of Bulacan. Expect your tiredness to be worth it when you reach the proud tourist destinations of the most mountenous town and so called “little Baguio”, in the province.

When the author interviewed DRT Mayor Ronaldo T. Flores, he said that the tourist destinations in his town can be proud because of the unique nature of the area. He even said that there are many tourists from different parts of the Philippines often visit in the said place and they explore the beautiful destinations of DRT, such as waterfalls that have been given attractive names such as “Talon Pari and Talon ni Eva, in Brgy. Kalawakan; Mandala Falls and Simbahang Bato in Brgy. Camachile; Adarna/13th Falls and Candle monument in Mt. Lumot in Brgy.Camachin; Digos Hills and Vervidia Falls of Brgy. Talbak and also the famous Carribean Water Park Resort in Pulong Sampalok.”

According to Mayor Flores, “all tourists, whether local or foreign will coordinate first in our municipal tourism office. The agency personnel will give instructions to the visitors on what dos and don’t while they are in the tourist area. Throwing trash in the places they will visit is strictly prohibited to maintain the cleanliness of the DRT’s tourist spots.”

Another destination that is very beautiful in the said municipality is the “Tila Pilon Hills”, dubbed as Chocolate Hills of Bulacan, located in Brgy. Kalawakan. It describes a quiet sanctuary where the scent of fresh air kissing the green surroundings can be felt in the said area.
Connecting with nature through a refreshing hike will rejuvenate your soul and kindle a fresh chapter of love.
It is true that stressful life will be temporarily forgotten there while observing the peaceful environment

Mayor Flores is also proud of the good opportunity that is being done in the DRT, particularly to his constituents. “It is also a great help to my constituents is the good opportunity brought by the development of tourism industry in our municipality where my kababayans who were then ‘kaingeros’ recently are now employed as tourist guides.”

If in Pilar, Bataan there is a “Dambana ng Kagitingan” at the top of Mt. Samat, in Barangay Camachin, in Doña Remedios Trinidad there is a “Candle Monument” at the top of Mt. Lumot. The said monument symbolizes the bravery expressed by the Filipino guerrillas, who fought against the Japanese soldiers after the American-Filipino soldiers all members and serving the United States Armed Forces of the Far East (USAFFE) surrendered to Japanese Imperial Army.

The surroundings of the Candle Monument which was forested before was renovated and beautified by the Flores administration to attract more tourists. It is now easier to climb Mt. Lumot, because the paths towards Candle Monument have been repaired and fortified.

From the monument area you can see the bird eye view of Metro Manila area, the provinces of Rizal and Pampanga, and some parts of the province of Bulacan. You will also feel like you are in Tagaytay city where the cool breeze can also be felt at the top of the said mountain. All of the tourists who have arrived at the monument say that the area of the Candle Monument can be considered the Echo Valley of Sagada in Mountain Province because of its similar features.
