Bulacan to commemorate 446th Founding Anniversary

Launches new logo for Bulacan @ 450

CITY OF MALOLOS — Marking over four centuries of rich history, cultural heritage and progress over the years, the Provincial Government of Bulacan is set to celebrate the 446th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Bulacan on Thursday morning (Aug. 15).

Centered around the theme “Bulacan: Duyan ng Kasaysayan, Yaman ng Kinabukasan” through a commemorative program in front of the Provincial Capitol Building, Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro will lead the three-part program to be joined by House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Camille A. Villar, with a special video message from First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos.

“In connection to the commemoration of this significant day, the ‘Bulacan at 450’ logo will also be launched as a symbol that marks the beginning of a four-year observance of the province’s founding as one of the highlights of the remembrance,” Fernando said.

Also, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will lead the unveiling of the historical marker of the Asociación Filantrópica de los Damas de la Cruz Roja en Filipinas, an organization founded in 1899 by Hilaria del Rosario, the wife of President Emilio Aguinaldo, which is the precursor of the current Philippine National Red Cross.

According to Section III of the New Provincial Administrative Code of 2007, August 15, 1578 is recognized as the founding date of the Province of Bulacan, coinciding with the feast day of Nuestra Señora de la Asuncion, who is acknowledged as the patroness of the province. (UnliNews Online)
