4 illegal firearms seized, suspect arrested in Nueva Ecija

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A search warrant operation in Barangay Digmala, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija, resulted in the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of four unlicensed firearms as the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) sustained its intensified campaign against loose firearms recently.

Joint operatives from PRO3, in coordination with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Nueva Ecija, the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office, and the Bongabon Municipal Police Station, conducted the operation.

Recovered from the operation were four assorted firearms consisting of one caliber .45 pistol, one caliber .40 pistol, one caliber .357 pistol, and one caliber .38 pistol. Also confiscated were a barrel assembly and a magazine assembly for a caliber .22 firearm, twenty-two rounds of caliber .45 ammunition, and three rounds of caliber .22 ammunition.

Implemented by virtue of Search Warrant No. 2026-30 issued by the Regional Trial Court, Branch 111, Tarlac City, the operation led to the arrest of a 53-year-old suspect. He is now under the custody of the Bongabon Municipal Police Station pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. Meanwhile, all confiscated firearms and other pieces of evidence have been turned over to the Regional Special Operations Group–Regional Intelligence Division 3 (RSOG-RID3) for proper disposition.

P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez, Regional Director of PRO3, commended the operating units for another successful intelligence-driven operation, saying it reflects the organization’s firm commitment to keeping illegal firearms out of communities in support of the PNP Focused Agenda of Chief, PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.

“Illegal firearms continue to pose a serious threat to public safety. Operations like this reflect our unwavering commitment to preventing these weapons from falling into the hands of criminals and being used to commit crimes. We will remain relentless in enforcing our firearms laws and carrying out intelligence-driven operations to help keep our communities safe and secure,” Mendez said. (UnliNews Online)
