PGB extends calamity assistance, emergency kits, and medical support to over 500 Bulakenyos

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — A total of 580 Bulakenyos affected by recent calamities received financial aid, emergency kits, and medical and assistive devices from the Provincial Government of Bulacan during a relief distribution at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here on Monday (Oct. 5).

The assistance was extended to help affected residents meet their immediate needs, particularly those requiring financial support, emergency supplies, and essential medical or mobility devices as they recover from the impact of the recent disasters.

Accordingly, a total of 390 beneficiaries affected by Super Typhoon Uwan received calamity financial assistance amounting to a total of P1.218 million, with partially damaged households receiving P3,000 and totally damaged households receiving P5,000 each.

Meanwhile, 90 families affected by fire incidents and tornadoes from July to September received emergency kits and 50-kilogram sacks of rice, comprising 51 partially damaged and 39 totally damaged households, with the assistance amounting to a total of P486,000.

Another 100 Bulakenyos received assistive and medical devices worth P1.372 million, including wheelchairs, stretchers, oxygen tanks, baby weighing scales, blood glucose monitoring systems, aneroid sphygmomanometers, nebulizers, first aid kits, and other essential equipment which were provided in response to requests from barangays to address the immediate needs of residents requiring mobility, medical, and emergency support.

Among the beneficiaries was Liezel Lazaro of Bulakan town, who received a wheelchair intended for her mother-in-law to help improve her mobility and daily activities.

“Malaking tulong po ito para sa mother-in-law ko dahil mas magiging madali para sa kanya ang paggalaw at pagpunta sa mga kailangan niyang puntahan nang hindi masyadong kinakailangan ng tulong mula sa aming pamilya niya,” Lazaro said.

During the program, Gov. Daniel R. Fernando reminded Bulakenyos to remain vigilant and prepare for the approaching El Niño, particularly by ensuring that their homes are safe and electrical connections and appliances are properly maintained.

“Kailangan po natin pag-usapan ‘yung nagbabantang tag-init. Ayoko pong maulit ‘yong nangyari sa Bayan ng Hagonoy na nasunog ang walong bahay dahil sa kurytente. Kaya po mag-ingat po tayo palagi at paghandaan po natin ang paparating na tag-init at tag-tuyot,” Fernando said. (UnliNews Online)
