344 young spellers take on word war at SM Super Spelling Bee 2026

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The battle of words heated up as 344 young spellers from Bulacan and nearby towns and cities went head-to-head in the SM Super Spelling Bee 2026, showcasing their vocabulary, focus, and spelling skills at SM City Marilao, SM Center Pulilan, and SM City Baliwag.

The SM Super Spelling Bee 2026 returns bigger and better, with an expanded competition format, more participating malls, and exciting prizes.

STUDENTS compete at the live spelling showdown held during the recent SM Super Spelling Bee at SM Center Pulilan.

Igniting the competition, participants aged 9 to 11 from public and private schools demonstrated their knowledge, confidence, and sportsmanship in a live spelling showdown.

The Elimination Round champions from SM’s Bulacan malls were Ahmad Mendoza of Punturin Elementary School and Thomas Cedrick Lachica of The Cardinal Academy from SM City Marilao; Jaeger Yngwie Bernales of Grace Christian Academy and Enzo Benedict Magarin of Colegio de Santa Philomena from SM Center Pulilan; and Elrond Yuan Aurelio of Mayi Montessori School and Robin William Moog of Second Home Academy from SM City Baliwag.

This 2026, over P5 million worth of exciting prizes are up for grabs across the Eliminations, Regional Semi-Finals, and the Grand Finals stages of the competition. These include cash prizes, SM gift certificates, college scholarships from National University, National Book Store Gift Cards, MacBooks and iPads from Power Mac Center, and Bahay Turo vouchers. The schools of the grand winner, first runner-up, and second runner-up will also receive special prizes at the Grand Finals. Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. will provide media support by airing promotional materials on DepEd TV Powered by Knowledge Channel.

For the first time, the competition will include the Regional Semi-Finals stage, which will be held across six of your most-loved SM Supermalls nationwide. Meanwhile, the Eliminations will be held in 49 malls — an increase from the 40 participating malls in the past two years.

In North Luzon, the Regional Semi-Finals will take place on October 17, 18, 24, and 25, extending the opportunity to more students to showcase their spelling prowess and mastery of words in a battle of wit, confidence, and linguistic skill.

The much-anticipated Grand Finals will take place on November 14, 2026, at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.

As SM Supermalls continues to evolve with the changing times, initiatives like the SM Super Spelling Bee highlight how every visit to SM can be more than just a trip to the mall—it can be an opportunity to discover, learn, and celebrate young talents. (UnliNews Online)
