Robbery-Holdup suspect in Bulacan, arrested before flight at NAIA

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A robbery-holdup suspect from City of Malolos in Bulacan was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Friday (October 2), after police units and airport authorities swiftly exchanged verified information to intercept the suspect before his flight.

The arrest was carried out under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), highlighting the role of coordinated police and airport security efforts in tracking down wanted individuals.

The police response began after information about a robbery-hold-up incident in Barangay Lugam, City of Malolos City, on October 1 was relayed to concerned units. Subsequent validation showed that the suspect had proceeded to NAIA Terminal 3 and had checked in for a flight bound for Cagayan de Oro.

With the information confirmed, personnel of the PNP Aviation Security Group, Police Regional Office 3, and other concerned units coordinated with airport security and the airline. The joint response led to the interception of the suspect at the Domestic Departure Area before the scheduled flight.

The suspect was placed under police custody and turned over to the concerned units for documentation and appropriate legal proceedings.
Chief PNP PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized that effective policing also means making the right connections between units when information crosses jurisdictional lines.

“Hindi natatapos sa isang lugar ang trabaho ng pulis kapag may kailangang maaksiyunan. We have to connect the information, verify it, and act on it at the right time. That kind of coordination can make a real difference in keeping people safe,” PGen Nartatez said.

The operation reflects the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly its Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), through the timely validation, coordination, and deployment of police resources in response to emerging situations. It also supports the peace and security priorities of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., especially in maintaining safe and orderly public spaces and transportation facilities. (UnliNews Online)
