Central Luzon intensifies crackdown on loose firearms and illegal mufflers

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Police in Central Luzon intensified their coordinated crackdown on public safety threats as law enforcement committees convened Monday (Feb. 23) to assess inter-agency operations and plan further actions.

The Regional Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (RLECC) 3 and the Joint Anti-Bank Robbery and Cybercrime Coordinating Committee (JABRACCC) 3 convened in a joint meeting reinforcing inter-agency collaboration and unified action to strengthen peace and order efforts in Central Luzon.

During the meeting held at the PRO3 Multi-purpose Hall, updates on intensified law enforcement operations were presented, including the accounting and scheduled destruction of confiscated modified and illegal mufflers.

From June 19, 2025 to February 22, 2026, a total of 5,227 confiscated modified and illegal mufflers have already been destroyed across various units. An additional 3,005 illegal mufflers were presented for destruction as part of the sustained campaign against violations that disturb public order and compromise road safety.

Authorities also presented more than 4,000 seized loose and illegal firearms recovered through continuous operations — firearms that once posed serious threats to peace and community safety and are now securely accounted for.

PRO3 Regional Director P/Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. emphasized that these accomplishments highlight the strength of coordinated governance. (UnliNews Online)
