CITY OF MALOLOS — The province of Bulacan is set once again to celebrate the 128th Anniversary of the Philippine Independence on Friday, June 12, at exactly 7 a.m. at the historical grounds of Barasoain Church in this city.
It was Barasoain Church where the Malolos Constitution was drafted and the First Philippine Republic was inaugurated in 1899.
This time with National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) Commissioner Dr. Francis M. Navarro as the guest of honor of the celebration.
Themed “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan,” Navarro will lead the wreath-laying ceremony in front of General Emilio Aguinaldo’s monument and will be joined by Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro, City of Malolos Mayor Atty. Christian D. Natividad and Vice Mayor Gilbert T. Gatchalian throughout the program.
Fernando is urging the Bulakenyos to put into practice all the lessons left by Filipino heroes, particularly the ones related to the country’s liberation. He also encouraged them to protect and treasure that freedom.
“Sa gaganapin po nating pagdiriwang, sana ay isabuhay natin ang mga aral na iniwan ng ating mga bayani sa ating kasaysayan, lalo na ang aral ng paglaya mula sa mga mananakop. Ang kalayaan pong ito na ating tinatamasa ay isang pamanang marapat lamang nating pag-ingatan at pagyamanin pa,” the People’s Governor added. (UnliNews Online)
