3 policemen inquested over Baliwag mistaken identity incident

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — The three police personnel from Baliwag CPS involved in the mistaken identity incident on Thursday (July 16) have already undergone inquest proceedings following the filing of criminal complaints arising from the incident.

Based on the police report sent by Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) this Saturday afternoon, the complaints filed against the police personnel include Physical Injuries, Unjust Vexation, Grave Coercion, Slander by Deed, and Attempted Kidnapping. Likewise, an administrative case is being prepared by NAPOLCOM against them.

Barangay Tangos, City of Baliwag, where a businessman alleged that he was approached by several individuals who identified themselves as police officers and attempted to take him into a vehicle. The complainant later claimed that the group realized he had been mistaken for another person, after which the group immediately left the scene.

PRO3 Director P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez stressed that the prompt filing of charges underscores the Philippine National Police’s unwavering commitment to accountability under the Chief PNP PGen Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr’s PNP Focused Agenda, particularly its Internal Cleansing Program, which ensures that erring personnel are held answerable for their actions and that public trust is continuously strengthened.

”Ang agarang pagsasailalim sa inquest proceedings at pagsasampa ng kaukulang kaso laban sa mga sangkot na pulis ay malinaw na patunay na seryoso ang Philippine National Police sa pagpapatupad ng Internal Cleansing Program sa ilalim ng PNP Focused Agenda. Walang sinuman ang higit sa batas, at anumang paglabag ng ating mga tauhan ay agad nating tinutugunan sa pamamagitan ng due process. Patuloy nating isusulong ang Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman sa pamamagitan ng pananagutan, propesyonalismo, at paggalang sa karapatang pantao,” P/Brig. Gen. Mendez said.

PRO3 assured the public that it will continue to uphold transparency, professionalism, and accountability by ensuring that all complaints against police personnel are acted upon promptly, fairly, and impartially in accordance with the law and existing PNP policies, in line with its commitment to deliver Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.
