PRO3 steps up crime prevention as incidents decline across Central Luzon

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Crime incidents across Central Luzon have continued to decline as the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) intensifies law enforcement operations and crime prevention initiatives to strengthen peace and order in the region.

PRO3 Director Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez attributed the positive trend to four key police interventions targeting wanted persons, firearms with expired registrations, crime prevention, and the swift resolution of criminal cases.

The initiatives form part of the regional police force’s continuing efforts to strengthen public safety and ensure a safer environment for communities across Central Luzon.

Through the Own the Project (OTP) approach, PRO3 has arrested almost 4,000 wanted persons in less than three months of implementation from August to date, reflecting intensified efforts to track down individuals with outstanding warrants.

PRO3 also intensified its Accounting and Disposition of Firearms with Expired Registration (ADFER) campaign, with approximately 78,000 individually registered firearms and 5,000 firearms registered under juridical entities accounted for, as part of its continuing efforts to ensure proper firearms monitoring and compliance with registration requirements.

Meanwhile, the JBM Patrol System strengthens crime prevention through increased police visibility and the activation, organization, and mobilization of Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs).

Complementing these efforts is the Kuyog System, which promotes swift crime resolution through close coordination, information sharing, and joint action among police units to identify and apprehend suspects.

RD Mendez emphasized the need to sustain these initiatives and avoid complacency despite the improving crime situation.

“The declining crime trend is encouraging, but we cannot afford to be complacent. We must sustain what is working—arresting wanted persons, accounting for firearms, strengthening our patrols, and solving cases promptly. Our goal is not simply to report accomplishments, but to ensure that our people feel safer in their communities,” RD Mendez said.

He also directed all provincial and city police directors and unit commanders to maintain close supervision, strengthen community partnerships, and ensure the consistent implementation of these programs.

PRO3 remains committed to sustaining its crime prevention and law enforcement efforts to maintain peace and order throughout Central Luzon in line with the PNP Focused Agenda of the Chief PNP, PGen Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr. (UnliNewsOnline)
