CITY OF MALOLOS — Thousands of tourists flocked to the province of Bulacan as three towns and a city celebrated their festival this month of January.
This is the Fiesta Republika of the city of Malolos, the Minasa Festival of the town of Bustos, the Bulak Festival of the town of San Ildefonso, and the Halamanan Festival of the town of Guiguinto.
In a statement, Eliseo Dela Cruz, head of the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office said that this year’s Fiesta Republika has the theme “Kalinangang Malolenyo, Alab ng Lahing Pilipino” where the celebration will be more vibrant and exciting because the 125th anniversary of the First Republic of the Philippines on January 23.
Meanwhile, City Mayor Atty. Christian D. Natividad said on Thursday that the weeklong celebration of Fiesta Republica was formally opened on Monday with a wedding exhibit and bridal fair.
“Susunod ang mga programa tulad ng One Barangay, One Product, Lakbay Kasaysayan, G. at Bb. Republica Filipina, ISKULIMPIKS, Araw ng mga Barangay, Dulansangan at ang pinakalundo ng festival ay ang ika-125 na Anibersaryo ng Unang Republica,” Natividad said.
Meanwhile, the Bustos festival celebrates its famous Minasa cookies. Activities lined up include the trade fair, Juan Big Surprise Concert and Tugtog and Sayaw Alay kay Sto. NiƱo.
The 14th Minasa Festival also formally started on Monday simultaneously celebrated the 107th Annivesary of Bustos town.
On the other hand, Lutong Bulak is featured in the San Ildefonso’s Bulak Festival which started on January 23.
There will also be a parade of street dancers and floats decorated with cotton made shapes of flowers and vegetables and basketball games.
And lastly, the Halamanan Festival of Guiguinto will feature the King and Queen of the Halamanan, Parada ng mga Karosa, the Garden Competition, and the musical concert feature by a famous band.
This festivity showcases GuiguinteƱos love for ornamental plants, decorative trees and flowers that provide livelihood to the people of Guiguinto.
The 26th Halamanan Festival formally started on Thursday and closing ceremony on Sunday. (UnliNews Online)
