PRO3 deploys 1,000 cops for Holy Week

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) were deployed around 1,000 police personnel throughout Central Luzon for the Holy Week.

Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, Central Luzon police director, said this is in anticipation of heightened public activities and to ensure public safety and order from April 13 to 20.

“Each year, we observe a surge of travelers in transport terminals and an influx of pilgrims and devotees in churches and pilgrimage sites, especially during Maundy Thursday and Good Friday,” said PBGEN Fajardo. “In response, I have directed the maximum deployment of police forces and the activation of support units across the region to safeguard our communities.”

Fajardo emphasized the vital role of community collaboration in achieving a secure and meaningful Holy Week observance. Force multipliers and volunteer groups, including Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) and local radio communication groups, are working closely with the PNP to boost public safety and ensure prompt emergency response.

To strengthen police visibility and deter criminal elements, foot and mobile patrols have been intensified. Police Assistance Desks and Centers (PADs/Cs) have been strategically established in key locations. Road safety marshals are also deployed in major transport terminals—such as bus stations, airports, and seaports—as well as in recreational areas, highways, and other high-traffic sites.

Even before the expected Holy Week peak, PRO3 personnel were already deployed as early as Palm Sunday to secure churches and chapels throughout the region.

“Semana Santa is a sacred time of reflection for the faithful. As public servants, our commitment is to provide a peaceful, orderly, and solemn observance of this holy tradition,” Fajardo concluded. (UnliNews Online)
