CITY OF MALOLOS — Bulakenyos gave the tandem of Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro an overwhelming victory over their rivals in Monday’s midterm elections.
Fernando and Castro, officially proclaimed by the Provincial Board of Canvassers at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city on Tuesday afternoon (May 13).
Fernando won his third and last term as governor, garnered a total vote of 1,169,428 after beating his political rivals former governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, got 225,881 votes and Bogs Violago 224,586 votes.
Castro, meanwhile, received 1,360,020 votes while Elmer Paguio only has 154,644 votes.
Fernando and Castro thanked those who supported them in Monday elections and promised to continue serving the people of Bulacan.
For his last term in office, Fernando said during an interview, the provincial government will focus on the flood problem in the province where preparations are underway to build a coastal road-flood control from Bataan to Manila.
He also included the construction of an additional dam that will absorb excess water during the rainy season.
Meanwhile, the Province of Bulacan will be represented in the Congress Rep. Danny Domingo of the Bulacan First District, Rep. Tina Pancho of the Second District, Rep. Cholo Violago of the Third District, Rep. Salvador Pleyto of the Fourth District and Rep. Agatha Paula Cruz of the Fifth District.
Also, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will be composed of Michael Aquino and Romina Fermin for the First District; Erlene Dela Cruz and Dingdong Nicolas for the 2nd District; Raul Mariano and RC Nono Catsro for the 3rd District; Kat Hernandez and William Villarica for the 4th District; Ricky Roque and Cesar Mendoza for the 5th District; and Jay De Guzman and Art Legaspi for the 6th District.
