Over P1.03M worth of illegal drugs, unlicensed firearm seized in Nueva Ecija

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police operatives of the Science City of Muñoz Police Station successfully arrested an armed individual on Saturday evening (Dec. 27), following a report of grave threats involving a family member in Barangay Catalanacan, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.

At about 8:14 p.m., police received information through a cellphone call that a male individual was threatening another person at gunpoint. Responding personnel immediately proceeded to the area to verify the report and conduct appropriate police intervention.

Upon arrival at the scene, the suspect attempted to flee using a parked vehicle but was promptly intercepted and arrested by the responding officers. A search incidental to a lawful arrest resulted in the recovery of one caliber 9mm pistol with a defaced serial number and one magazine loaded with five live ammunition, without any valid license or authority to possess the firearm, constituting a violation of Republic Act 10591.

Further search yielded suspected dangerous drugs and related paraphernalia, including various quantities of suspected high-grade marijuana, marijuana leaves, marijuana-infused cigarette sticks, vape cartridges, and other marijuana derivatives, with a standard drug price of P1,038,000.00. Also recovered were drug paraphernalia, a firearm holster, and a motor vehicle.

PBrig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr., Regional Director of Police Regional Office 3, said the arrest underscores the PRO3’s firm commitment to public safety.

“This reflects our unwavering commitment to the PNP Focused Agenda of Acting Chief PNP, Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr ,” Brig. Gen. Peñones Jr said.

He added that the operation is aligned with PRO3’s 3Ps strategic direction—Protect the People, Pursue Peace and Order, and Promote Professionalism—ensuring that all police actions are lawful, disciplined, and service-oriented. (UnliNews Online)
