CIDG captures 7 members of CTG, seizes firearms and granade in Tarlac

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Seven members of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) were arrested in Barangay Baras-Baras, Tarlac City, Tarlac recently.

CIDG Tarlac Provincial Field Unit together with PNP Special Action Force; Intelligence Group; Philippine Army; and territorial police units, conducted a massive manhunt operation in the said barangay, that resulted in the capture of seven members of a Communist Terrorist Group (CTG)- five of them are by virtue of Warrants of Arrest for Attempted Murder and Qualified Trafficking in Persons issued by courts in Kalinga, Ilocos Sur, and Abra in 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively; and two rebels were arrested in flagrante delicto for illegal possession of firearms and explosive.

A report that reached Robert AA Morico II, the Director of CIDG, stated that the seven arrested persons are all members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) under Ilocos–Cordillera Regional Committee of the New People’s Army (ICRC-NPA) actively operating in Kalinga and Abra provinces. The rebels are all housed in their hideout in Brgy. Baras-Baras, Tarlac City when the intel-driven operation took place.

After the lawful arrest, the authorities discovered and recovered from the possession and control of the arrested persons- one fragmentation hand grenade; three unlicensed firearms – caliber 5.56 rifle, caliber 45 pistol and caliber 38 revolver; assorted magazines and ammunition; six units of cellular phones; SIM card housing; USB flash drive; pocket WiFi; power bank; Identification Cards, wallets, cash money amounting to P11,000, among others.

The CIDG leadership lauds P/Col.L Grant A Gollod, the Regional Chief of CIDG Regional Field Unit 3, and the CIDG Tarlac Provincial Field Unit led by PLTCOL Arvin E Hosmillo, and joint operating teams for the intel-driven arrests of seven CTG members – all at once; and confiscation of the three unlicensed firearms and hand grenade.

The remarkable accomplishment significantly helped the government on its fight against terrorism; and underscores the Unit’s commitment in capturing wanted persons to help all victims attain the justice they deserved.
