Malolos City LGU provides P10K financial aid to 78 OFW families affected by war in Middle East

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Seventy- eight families living in this city who have Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) relatives working in the Middle East who are now experiencing severe war received financial assistance from the Malolos City government on Thursday (March 19).

City Mayor Christian D. Natividad gave the financial assistance of P10,000 to the third batch of OFWs relatives affected by the conflict in the Middle East.

Earlier last week, Natividad, distributes to 13 and 36 OFWs kin or families respectively, who were caught in the said war places and still stranded and have not been able to return home or send money to their families.

“Since the war broke out in the Middle East and OFWs live in this city were found themselves in an dangerous situation, prompting the city government to form a “Special Help Desk,” Mayor Natividad said.

“Umabot na sa 127 na pamilya ang ating nabigyan ng tulong pinansiyal mula ng sumiklab ang giyera sa Gitnang Silangan at hindi nakakapagpadala ng pera ang kanilang mga mahal sa buhay,” the city mayor said.

Natividad also told local media that aside from cash assistance, the local government unit will also provide assistance to OFWs there who want to return home but are not included in the national government’s repatriation activity.

“Ang pamahalaang lungsod ay gagawa ng paraan para makauwi sila at makapiling ang kanilang mga pamilya o kamag-anak na nakatira dito sa Malolos,” Natividad said

“In case the war continues, the city government remains committed to helping the OFWs of Malolos,” the mayor added.

Meanwhile, Natividad added that next week, the city government is set to provide fuel subsidies to TODA members, drivers of passenger jeepneys to ease the hardship of the rapid increases in the price of gasoline.

“Sa susunod na Linggo, ito namang mga TODA members at mga driver ng pampasaherong jeep ang ating tutulungan at bibigyan ng financial assistance na kahit papaano ay makabawas sa sobrang taas ng presyo ng petrolyo,” Natividad told local the newsmen. (UnliNews Online)
