CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Another increase in Malolos families with Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) relatives in the Middle East received financial assistance worth P10,000 from the City Government of Malolos on Tuesday afternoon (March 24) at the office of Malolos City Mayor Atty. Christian Natividad.
A total of 233 families of OFWs in Malolos have received financial assistance from the local government in just over a week.
Malolos has contributed over P2.3 million to help families that were eligible for the special city program for Malolos OFWs who were affected by the Middle East war, up to this point.
City of Malolos Administrator Joel Eugenio, in collaboration with City of Malolos Executive Secretary Tina Sy, supervised the distribution of the said financial assistance.

The assessment of the city’s OFW Special Help Desk for OFWs affected by the war crisis is ongoing and it is anticipated that this will increase in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Mayor Natividad clarified that what they are using is from the City Government of Malolos funds that they have saved to be used in this opportunity and situation for Maloleños.
The mayor also explained the qualified relatives of OFWs in claiming financial assistance and whether the area where the OFWs work is covered by the conflict in the Middle East.
Natividad said the city government has also allotted funds for the repatriation of OFWs from the city who would unfortunately not be in the repatriation list of the national government.
“The city government will also have standby funds for the return ticket of the repatriated OFWs who will need to go back to the Middle East when the conflict ends,” the mayor added.
Meanwhile, the city government will also begin in the coming days to provide financial assistance to TODA, JODA, bankers, and TNVS Maloleños.
In conjunction with the ongoing war and worsening crisis, the mayor also made a promise to drivers affected by the continued increase in crude oil prices. Drivers who are affiliated with organizations will be given priority. (With a report from Verna Santos)
