CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A joint police operation in Porac led to the arrest of a Most Wanted Person facing a murder case and the confiscation of several loose firearms and ammunition on Wednesday morning (May 20).
Operatives from the Pampanga Police Intelligence Unit, together with personnel from Porac MPS, Guagua MPS, Pampanga 1st PMFC, and Pampanga PDEU, served a warrant of arrest against the 37-year-old suspect in Barangay Pias, Porac and his cohort a 70-year-old man.
During the operation, police also recovered several firearms and ammunition allegedly in the possession of the accused, including a caliber .45 pistol, an M16 rifle, a shotgun with defaced serial number, magazines, and assorted live ammunition.
Authorities said additional charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, as well as P.D. 1829, are being prepared against the suspect.
Police Regional Office 3 Director P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez said the successful operation highlights PRO3’s continuing crackdown on loose firearms and wanted persons in line with the PNP Focused Agenda of Chief, PNP P/Gen. Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr, particularly on intensified law enforcement operations and public safety efforts.
“Loose firearms continue to pose a serious threat to public safety because these are often used in the commission of crimes. Operations like this are important not only in arresting wanted persons, but also in preventing violence and protecting communities from armed individuals. Through sustained intelligence-driven operations, we remain committed to supporting the PNP Focused Agenda and ensuring safer communities for everyone,” Gen. Mendez said. (UnliNews Online)
