DSWD gives aid to 583 families in flood-hit Bulacan town

CALUMPIT, Bulacan – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) delivered relief supplies and cash aid to 583 evacuee families in two evacuation centers amid the ongoing effects of widespread flooding brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, alongside Undersecretary Diana Rose Cajipe, Calumpit Mayor Lem Faustino, and Vice Mayor Zacarias Candelaria, led the aid distribution on Thursday (Aug. 20).

The recipients included 228 families at the San Marcos Evacuation Center and 355 families in Barangay Pio Cruzcosa. The distributed aid consisted of 335 food packs, as well as Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) and financial assistance amounting to PHP10,000 per qualified family to cover their basic needs.

Faustino expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Gatchalian, and Cajipe for their immediate response and support for the families affected by the flooding and calamity.

According to the local government, the food packs and financial assistance provided are a significant help in meeting the daily needs of the evacuees.

The municipal government of Calumpit and the DSWD continue to coordinate to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of services and aid to the families most in need. (UnliNews Online)
