Pampanga Barangay chairman arrested for road rage in less than 12 hours

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — In less than 12 hours, and through swift and coordinated police action, a 42-year-old barangay captain from Lubao, Pampanga, was arrested in a hot-pursuit operation in Barangay Sta. Maria, Lubao, after the shooting of a truck driver along JASA Road, Barangay San Antonio, Guagua.

The incident occurred at about 1:20 a.m. on July 17, 2026, following an alleged road altercation. The 28-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

Through CCTV backtracking, vehicle tracing, and close coordination with the Lubao Municipal Police Station and police stations in nearby towns, authorities identified and located the suspect. His licensed firearm allegedly used in the shooting was also seized from his possession and will be subjected to forensic examination. Appropriate criminal charges are being prepared against him.

PRO3 Regional Director P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez, commended the operating personnel for their immediate action.

Nartatez Jr., particularly the protection of our people and the enhancement of police operations. Walang sinuman ang nakahihigit sa batas. Patuloy tayong kikilos nang mabilis upang mapanagot ang mga lumalabag dito at mapanatiling ligtas ang ating mga komunidad,” P/Brig. Gen. Mendez said.
