DENR, partners establish recreational linear park in Bulacan

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A new recreational linear park in Paombong, Bulacan is expected to provide residents with a greener and more accessible public space while supporting the continuing rehabilitation of Manila Bay through environmental restoration and sustainable urban development.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Guiguinto, has commenced the establishment of the Recreational Linear Park in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Paombong and BSP & Company Inc.

The project will transform the area into a sustainable public space that promotes environmental stewardship, protects the surrounding environment, and encourages community participation in environmental conservation under the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program (MBRP).

DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo said the project reflects the agency’s commitment to expanding green public spaces that generate lasting environmental and social benefits.

“Recreational linear parks demonstrate that environmental protection and community development can go hand in hand. Through this effort, we are creating green spaces that not only help restore and protect our environment but also provide communities with places that encourage environmental awareness, recreation, and shared responsibility in caring for our natural resources,” Pablo said.

For his part, Rolly Mulato, head of the DENR provincial office in Bulacan, underscored the importance of collaboration in realizing projects that benefit both the environment and local communities.

According to CENRO Guiguinto Head Jeffrey Francisco, the Recreational Linear Park will cover approximately 1,000 sq.m. and will feature walkways, landscaped open spaces, benches, tree planting areas, solar street lights, multi-purpose open hall and comfort rooms.

Once completed, the project is expected to benefit more than 23,000 residents of Barangays San Isidro II, Santo Rosario and San Isidro I.

The establishment of the Recreational Linear Park forms part of DENR’s continuing efforts to develop sustainable green open spaces across Central Luzon under the MBRP. (UnliNews Online)
