CITY OF MALOLOS — Gathering together history and heritage stakeholders from across the province, the Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office (PHACTO) conducted the History and Heritage Summit 2026 with the theme “Sagwan: Kasaysayan, Pamana, at Kinabukasan,” held recently, at the Bulacan Capitol Hostel, Antonio S. Bautista Bulacan Provincial Capitol Compound in this city.
The summit brought together tourism officers, representatives of historical and heritage organizations, heritage advocates, students, members of the academe, and government personnel involved in the promotion, documentation, preservation, and management of Bulacan’s history and cultural heritage.
Focused on fostering stronger collaboration and coordination, the summit also provided a platform for history and heritage practitioners to indulge in knowledge-sharing and discussions on national and provincial programs related to local history, cultural heritage, and heritage management.
Also, the presentations highlighted the programs and initiatives of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), represented by Jose Ruel F. Paguiligan, and the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP), represented by Narwin C. Gonzales, who shared various national government programs, resources, and opportunities aimed at strengthening local history and heritage initiatives across the province.
PHACTO OIC-Head Limuel Jan J. Lobederio, likewise presented existing programs of the Provincial Government of Bulacan on history, particularly initiatives focused on the documentation, promotion, and preservation of the province’s historical narratives and resources, aiming to make Bulacan’s history more accessible to the public and ensure that it remains relevant to future generations.
A key component of the summit was the “Palihan,” which featured breakout sessions centered on Kasaysayan, Pamana, and SINEliksik which provided participants with an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences, identify challenges, and explore possible collaborative programs and initiatives for history and heritage conservation.
