DOLE brings emergency employment to 659 workers in Tarlac town

CONCEPCION, Tarlac (PIA) — A total of 659 workers from Concepcion, Tarlac have begun their emergency employment under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

DOLE Tarlac Officer-in-Charge Jason Ocampo explained that TUPAD provides immediate temporary employment and income support to beneficiaries to help meet their daily needs.

“Layunin nitong makatulong sa kanilang kabuhayan habang nakatutulong din sila sa kanilang komunidad(It aims to help improve their livelihood while also allowing them to contribute to their community),” he added.

Ocampo said beneficiaries must not be employed by the government and must not be elected officials to qualify for the program.

Of the beneficiaries, 414 are public utility vehicle drivers who will benefit from the TUPAD Tuloy Pasada Program, while 45 transport workers will undertake 15 days of community-based work and receive P9,000 each.

The remaining 200 beneficiaries will render 10 days of work for post-typhoon recovery efforts, including sandbagging, desilting, cleaning waterways, participating in Brigada Eskwela, and assisting in disaster response operations.

Ocampo assured the proper implementation of the program through coordination with its partners and continuous monitoring of the beneficiaries.

The assistance supports the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in providing temporary employment opportunities and livelihood support to workers affected by economic and climate-related challenges. (Ara Jamica R. Reparejo)
