CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) Director P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez has directed all police units across Central Luzon to strictly comply with existing regulations governing the custody and handling of recovered, impounded, and evidence vehicles, warning personnel against using these for personal purposes.
Mendez stressed that vehicles placed under police custody must be properly safeguarded and handled in accordance with established rules and procedures, emphasizing that these are not for the personal convenience or benefit of any police personnel.
He also emphasized that no police personnel, regardless of rank or position, is authorized to use these vehicles for personal benefit. Any authorized movement, turnover, or release must also be properly documented.
“Any reported unauthorized use, failure to account for vehicles, or falsification of records will be subject to investigation. Personnel found responsible may face administrative or criminal charges, depending on the circumstances and evidence,” Mendez added.
The directive places responsibility on police commanders to maintain accurate records and ensure that vehicles remain in their designated custody unless their movement or release is properly authorized.
The top cop of Central Luzon further reminded all unit commanders to exercise close supervision over vehicles under their custody and ensure that proper documentation and accountability are observed at all times. (UnliNews Online)
