For journalists, this results in professional ruin, as trust—their most valuable asset—is permanently destroyed.

When a complaint is filed, authorities such as the NBI Cybercrime Division play a critical role by investigating intellectual property theft, gathering evidence, and determining if legal action is warranted.

Beyond law enforcement, press organizations may also take action, ranging from issuing public reprimands to suspending or revoking the memberships of those who violate ethical codes. Regardless of their personal relationships, public officials must avoid favoritism; justice must be impartial and adhere to established rules.

Combating plagiarism requires more than punitive measures; it necessitates cultivating a culture that values original work. This involves educating journalists on ethics, providing support systems for writers, and holding all professionals—from local reporters to national columnists—to consistent, high standards.

(UnliNews Online)
