CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) recovered a substantial volume of suspected illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia after a concerned citizen voluntarily turned over a suspicious luggage bag to authorities in Magalang, Pampanga.
The recovery stemmed from the vigilance of a concerned citizen who, on June 22, 2026, sought assistance from the Magalang Municipal Police Station after receiving threatening text messages instructing her to transfer a white luggage bag from her residence to another location in Clark, Pampanga. Alarmed by the messages and suspicious of the bag’s contents, she immediately reported the matter to authorities.
Acting on the information, personnel of Magalang MPS, together with the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Provincial Intelligence and Drug Monitoring Unit (PIDMU), barangay officials, and representatives from the Department of Justice, conducted an inventory of the luggage.
Inside the bag, authorities discovered several sachets containing suspected shabu and other illegal drugs weighing approximately 530 grams, with an estimated street value of P3.6 million.
Also recovered were assorted suspected party drugs valued at P149,600, vape cartridges, drug paraphernalia, cash, jewelry, identification cards, and other items believed to be associated with illegal drug activities.
The recovery came just days after PRO3 successfully solved the murder case of a Korean national whose body was found inside an abandoned vehicle in General Tinio, Nueva Ecija, on June 17, 2026. The case was resolved in less than three days through the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of key evidence.
PRO3 Director P/Brig. Gen. Jess B. Mendez commended the citizen whose vigilance led to the recovery and emphasized the vital role of community cooperation in crime prevention and law enforcement.
“This development underscores the importance of public cooperation in our campaign against criminality and illegal drugs. The willingness of a concerned citizen to come forward enabled law enforcement authorities to recover a significant volume of suspected illegal drugs and other evidence. Guided by the PNP Focused Agenda of Chief, PNP, PGEN Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr., we will continue to strengthen intelligence-driven operations and sustain our efforts to keep our communities safe and secure,” Gen. Mendez said.
