PGB expands nutrition support for 514 stunted children in CSJDM

CITY OF MALOLOS — The Provincial Government of Bulacan, through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, led the ceremonial feeding and distribution of dry food commodities to 514 stunted children aged six to 23 months old last Tuesday (July 21) at Brgy. Muzon South Covered Court in the City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

The said initiative was part of PGB’s month-long campaign to promote healthier communities in the province as the country observes this year’s Nutrition Month with a theme “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!”

Alona Ape, mother of one of the beneficiaries of the program, shared that this helps her lessen their expenses in buying nutritious foods for her daughter.

Likewise, Cassandra Mae Loseno also said projects like this helps her daughter gain enough weight and nutrition to stay healthy, stressing that children such as hers do not usually eat vegetables.

The attendees also participated in a nutrition education entitled “Idol Ko Si Nanay” led by Nutrition Focal Person Domenic N. Alegria, wherein he discussed the importance of the first 1,000 days of a child.

Moreover, Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro announced during the program his proposed building of therapy centers in the province to help and assist Bulakenyo children with autism.

(UnliNews Online)
